The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has officially commenced its Annual Customer Engagement Week in Jinja City, taking place from Tuesday 9th to Friday 12th December 2025. This year’s edition places special emphasis on transforming working relations and strengthening Uganda’s business ecosystem, as URSB intensifies its outreach efforts to bring registration services closer to the public and deepen engagement with entrepreneurs.

As part of this transformation agenda, URSB teams will spend the week conducting targeted stakeholder visits across Jinja City and surrounding communities. These visits are designed to foster more collaborative working relationships between URSB, business owners, local leaders, and financial institutions, while also addressing service-related concerns and improving the overall customer experience. The initiative underscores URSB’s commitment to building trust, strengthening partnerships, and enhancing the responsiveness of its services.

One of the major highlights of the week is the provision of on-spot business registration services, allowing entrepreneurs to instantly register business names, companies, partnerships, intellectual property, and update company records. This hands-on interaction also includes demonstrations of URSB’s digital platforms—the Online Business Registration System (OBRS) and the Security Interest in Movable Property Registration System (SIMPO) which are central to modernising administrative processes and making the business ecosystem more efficient and accessible.

URSB will further hold community sensitisation sessions focusing on the importance of formalising enterprises, understanding compliance obligations, protecting business identities, and unlocking the benefits associated with joining Uganda’s formal economy. These engagements serve as key platforms for dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and real-time feedback, reinforcing URSB’s mission to create a more supportive, transparent, and empowered business community.

To boost participation, this year’s engagement week features a “Register and Win” promotion that rewards entrepreneurs who formalise their businesses during the event. Through branded giveaways and business support materials, URSB aims to encourage more business owners to take the step toward formalisation, contributing to a stronger, more structured business environment.

Throughout the four-day program, URSB staff will distribute information materials covering the full range of its services, including business registration, insolvency, copyright and neighbouring rights, intellectual property protection, and security interest registration. Tropical Bank’s Jinja Branch on Main Street will serve as the central walk-in hub for all activities, providing direct access to support services, consultations, and live demonstrations.

By anchoring this year’s Customer Engagement Week on transforming working relations and the broader business ecosystem, URSB reaffirms its commitment to a more inclusive, transparent, and client-centred service delivery model. The initiative represents an important step in empowering entrepreneurs, strengthening institutional partnerships, and enhancing the overall business landscape in Uganda.
