Kampala – The Electoral Commission has announced adjustments to the electoral roadmap, including a change of dates for the nomination of Parliamentary candidates and a revised schedule for the commencement of Presidential campaigns.

According to the Commission, the nomination of candidates for Parliamentary Elections, including Special Interest Groups (SIGs) representatives for Youth, Persons with Disabilities, Workers, and Older Persons, has been rescheduled from 15th – 16th October 2025 to 22nd – 23rd October 2025.

The nominations will be conducted at the offices of the respective District and City Returning Officers.

The Commission explained that the adjustment was necessitated by Uganda’s role as host of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Mid-Term Review Conference, an international engagement scheduled for 15th – 16th October 2025. The event is expected to bring together government officials, legislators, representatives of NAM member states, and international agencies, with significant involvement of key government institutions in planning, security, and diplomatic coordination.

“In order to facilitate full participation, administrative efficiency, and maintain national focus during this important international engagement, the Commission has adjusted the Parliamentary nomination dates accordingly,” the statement reads.
