Kampala – The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the release of official symbols for political parties and independent candidates, a strategic step in strengthening the integrity and transparency of Uganda’s upcoming elections.

In line with the Political Parties and Organisations Act, 2005, the Commission has allocated 27 distinct symbols to registered political parties and made available 20 unique symbols for independent candidates. This initiative is designed to minimize voter confusion, reinforce credibility, and promote orderly participation in the country’s multiparty political system.

The unveiling of the symbols marks a critical milestone in the EC’s comprehensive roadmap for the 2026 General Elections, which will encompass presidential, parliamentary, and local government polls. According to the Commission, these efforts underscore its commitment to ensuring a smooth, credible, and inclusive electoral process.
